Hey Guys!
Since we are in fall I thought I’d share some hobbies that I came across that I didn’t know were a thing and some others that I like to do during the fall season. Most of the time people like to try and stay indoors or go to football games. While most people are doing that I like to go hiking! There are actually some really great places here in the area to go hiking. My favorite is Devil’s Den. It has some really great campgrounds as well. I haven’t personally been on all of the trails there, nor have I gotten to go swimming in the lake but I have had several friends tell me they really enjoyed their stay there.

One of my favorite things to do while I am hiking is to take some pictures of the leaves during the fall season while I am hiking. I always love seeing the trees change color during this time! I know that some people like to actually collect some of the leaves and preserve them! I looked up a couple of ways you can do that if it’s something that interests you!

There are a few different ways to preserve leaves. There’s the Glycerion Method, The Wax Paper Pressing Method, and the Microwave Method.
The Glycerion Method is where you put the leaf into a glycerin/water mixture. It’s good at maintaining the leaf’s texture and form.
The Wax paper Pressing Method is basically how it sounds. You press the leaf in between two pieces of wax paper.
The Microwave Method is where you use a microwave.

I’ve got a link to the particular article that I got these ideas from. I have never actually preserved a leaf but it might be something I will try this year! I like doing some crafty things every so often!
